Hi Denis,
this part of the Forum is mainly focused on hand tools, so our experts on power tools might miss this thread.
The "other" part of the forum is names "Allgemeines Holzwerkerforum"
können die Admins diesen Thread ins allgemeine Forum verschieben?
best regards and good luck finding your answer.

Whoops, sorry I missed where I was posting it. Perhaps an administrator could move it as I believe you said.

Hello Dennis,
I can read VEM on the motor, and here's what I found:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VEM_SachsenwerkAs far as I can tell from their history, VEM may have only made the motor, not the bandsaw. I can't help with the saw, sorry.
Cheers, Wolfgang

Hi, yes the motor is a VEM, we are not sure it is the original motor or not, I have found some similar looking models when looking for east german band saws but no exact match.

Terve!
Apologize, can't help with the saw identification - but just out of interest: the saw blade looks peculiar...is is for cutting tiles/rock or similar materials?
Grüße, Philipp

Many people have commented on the blade, I have no idea but I suppose it is a friction blade or something like that. It wore a groove in the rubber on the wheel though and I have no plans to keep using it. Ordered a new one from the UK recently.

Guude,
it is a "hartmetallbestreutes Sägeblatt", carbide strewn saw blade,
used for hard materials, as stones, concrete, foamed concrete....
